Poem sent by RJ Pasant:
With all do respect my purple heart I would never reject. Pin it on me the day I can see, upon my chest with all the rest. My sacrifices have been great but let me share with you my fate. I am strong willed, and very determined, and I WILL FIGHT WITH ALL MY MIGHT. When I wiggle a foot or toe I am letting you know. Even with all these bandages upon my face all the voices I can place. I have to much to live for as you can see in such a supportive and loving family. Hold your heads up high and don't cry, for I am United States Army SSG Collin J.Bowen and it wont be long before I am again strong!
Sent by Marta Mendelsohn: Dinner with Marta, Steve, Collin and Ursula at "Petit Louis" in Baltimore, March 2004.

Sent by MAJ Sulzner: I am back at Camp Clark and arriving here felt like getting punched in the gut. Things are different and I am having a hard time getting back on track. One positive note after that incident we all have received nomex fire retardant suits that we wear now. Everyone here is praying for Collin and we all check on his status daily. He was just a great guy and made a huge impact on lots of people.

Sent by SGT Heron: These are pictures we took sharing a meal with the Afghan NCOs Lwara. Collin and SFC Locklear are great NCOs and showed me the ropes when I came down as part of the replacement team. My success and safe return from there was in a big part thanks to them. I pray for your recovery.
